Peanut Butter Cake


Foodies try this out out Peanut butter cake.


2 cups cake flour
1/3 cup (80ml) peanut butter
1/3 cup (80ml) butter
¾ cups sugar
1 ¼ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 ½ cups sour milk (or buttermilk)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence


1. Preheat oven to  350˚F (180). Grease cake pan/s and line the bottom with wax paper or baking paper.

2. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

3. In a separate bowl cream peanut butter and butter. Add sugar and mix until light and fluffy

4. Beat in eggs. Add the dry ingredients alternatively with sour milk. Add vanilla.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan/s and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Turn onto rack and cool completely before frosting.

Peanut butter chocolate frosting (Enough to decorate half of the cake, which I did)

2 ¼ cups icing sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
3 tablespoons milk or sour milk

Cream peanut butter and butter. Sift icing sugar and cocoa powder and add to the creamed mixture alternatively with milk. Add vanilla and beat until fluffy. Decorate as desired.
